With the family
Turn your day out with the children into a fun experience for the whole family by taking part in the activities we offer. Here, art can also be enjoyed at children’s eye level! Through games, mini-tours, mini-workshops and workshops, the little ones can discover architecture and the exhibitions, and explore the Frac’s collection whilst having fun.
Every effort is made to support families as they explore the Frac:
- – Free entry to the Frac for under-18s
- – Reduced rate with the ‘large family’ card
- – Programme of dedicated activities (mini-courses, mini-workshops, open workshops, holiday workshops, etc.)

SELF-GUIDED TOURS & SELF-GUIDED TOOLS
The Frac Grand Large has developed a range of resources to help families explore the architecture and visit the exhibitions. These are free of charge and available on site or for download from our website.
- – Maxi Musette, a sensory bag that invites visitors to explore the exhibition in an immersive, sensory, playful and active way, through touch, observation and imagination.
- – TOUSCHSCAPE UNFOLDED: landscapes made of portable materials that unfold and invite children to rest and enjoy sensory experiences, designed by set designer Leia Walz to help very young children explore the building.
- – Sensory Friends, soft-toy friends designed by set designer Leia Walz to help very young children explore the exhibition. The Sensory Friends concept is adapted from a project developed in collaboration with the WIELS Contemporary Art Centre in Brussels.
- – Architecture factsheet – so you can learn all there is to know about the building’s architecture. You can find the factsheet on site (freely available) and here.
- – Colouring pages featuring works from the FRAC collection. You can find the colouring pages on site, where they are freely available, and here.
SPECIAL PROGRAMME
Children and families are invited to explore the exhibitions and embark on a real adventure! Follow the education officers, discover surprising details and playful observations in some of the artworks, and come and experience a unique story at the Frac!

Mini physical awareness course for
0–3-year-olds
SATURDAY, 4.00 pm–4.40 pm
Tailored to the developmental stages of very young children, each session encourages young visitors to interact with one another and their surroundings, whilst fostering self-discovery. They stimulate the imagination and encourage free movement.
Mini obstacle course for toddlers
aged 18 months to 3 years
SATURDAY, 4.30 pm–5.15 pm
Sensory Friends are soft toy friends designed by exhibition designer Leia Walz to accompany very young children as they explore the exhibitions. Inspired by the artworks, they take on their shapes, colours and textures, becoming true companions on their journey of discovery.
Mini trail for curious minds, ages 5–12
SATURDAY, 3.00 pm–4.30 pm
Start this intergenerational session with a moment of meditation, before listening to a group reading of a picture book that sparks the imagination and encourages reflection. Then set off to discover the artworks (guided observation, sensory exploration, asking questions, etc.), before getting stuck into a creative activity!
Mini adventure trail for 3–6-year-olds
SUNDAY, 4pm–5pm

Inclusive sensory trail for children aged 7 and over
SUNDAY, 4pm–5pm
Here, sight is no longer the sole guide: the tour is experienced through touch, sound and the imagination. Designed to support people with visual impairments as they explore the exhibition, it is open to everyone. An invitation to slow down and pay attention to textures, smells, sounds and stories, this tour offers a different way of engaging with the artworks, one that recognises the diversity of experiences and perceptions.
COMMITMENTS TO SUPPORTING FAMILIES
THE FRAC HAS SIGNED THE MÔM’ART CHARTER: A FUN MUSEUM
Môm’Art, an organisation set up in 2013 on the initiative of professionals from the socio-cultural sector, parents of schoolchildren and responsible grandparents, takes a keen interest in the future of cultural activities for children.
The Môm’Art association invites museums to sign a charter of best practice for museums (museums that are welcoming, with suitable facilities, offering an annual programme for the whole family, etc.).

CARRÉ BB
Le Frac has been certified by Materlait (an association supporting families and professionals on their journey through breastfeeding and parenthood) as a ‘baby-friendly’ establishment under the Carré BB scheme.
We provide:

A CREATIVE BIRTHDAY
Come and celebrate your birthday with your friends at the Frac! Together, you’ll explore the artworks through games, stories and specially tailored activities, for a birthday full of surprises.
On Wednesdays or Saturdays:
2.15 pm: Arrival of the children
2.30 pm–3.30 pm: A quick tour and workshop led by a member of the outreach team
3.30 pm–5.00 pm: A space will be provided for creating lovely memories (afternoon tea, photographs, etc.)
The number of participants is limited to a maximum of 12 children, aged between 5 and 12.
Participants remain the responsibility of the accompanying adult for the entire duration of the birthday party and under their sole supervision whilst the venue is in use.
The supervisor is responsible for providing the afternoon snack.
Price: €60 for the group

A card that you can print and personalise is sent by email as soon as your booking is confirmed.
The various workshops:
Take Flight (ages 7–9)
For your birthday at the Frac, explore the building and its artworks on a journey where shapes, colours and plays of light and shadow unfold before your eyes.
Draw inspiration from what you see to create your own colourful, graphic kite – to fly by the sea or to keep as a memento of this afternoon with friends.
Pop Designer (ages 10–12)
The Frac Grand Large is the only one of the 22 Fracs to house designer furniture. It has over 90 different chairs! Have a go at trying out a few of them and then design your own pop-up design notebook. Who knows, maybe the Frac will buy your prototype?
