Building together

Every year, as part of its mission to promote its collection across the region and raise awareness of contemporary art, the Frac Grand Large organises and supports exhibition projects at various private and public organisations (charities, media libraries, art centres, universities, museums, local authorities, hospitals, etc.).

These exhibition projects are the result of one-off or long-term collaborations between the FRAC teams and their partner organisations. 

The richness of the FRAC’s collection makes it possible to organise exhibitions on a wide variety of themes, whilst taking into account the technical, administrative and financial resources of each partner. Developing a project based on the collections means putting the collection at the service of your project, sharing fresh perspectives on the works, and facilitating engagement with new audiences.

CHOOSING YOUR PACKAGE

ORGANISING A THEMED EXHIBITION

A selection of works is chosen, in collaboration with the partner organisation, based on a specific theme and tailored to the exhibition venue.

TRAINEE COMMISSIONERS

The exhibition is designed for a group of children or adults. Preparatory workshops accompany the exploration of the works in the collection and the exhibition design, involving a collective interpretative process.

THE ‘READY-TO-LOAN’ EXHIBITIONS

A ‘ready-to-lend’ exhibition offers you a wide selection of works organised around a theme, along with educational resources (information sheets, display labels, etc.). ‘Ready-to-lend’ exhibitions can be tailored to suit your requirements and the space you have available.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Frac Grand Large provides the following to its partner: 

  • – Guidance on selecting artworks, tailored to the theme and venue
  • – The works in his collection 
  • – The administrative management of the exhibition loan 
  • – Communication relays 
  • – Tools to support visitors and training in visitor guidance 
  • – A specialist technical team for the packing of artworks, condition reports, transport, installation and dismantling. 

The partner hosting the exhibition is responsible for: 

  • – The exhibition fees for the artists featured 
  • – The exhibition’s curators
    • – Insurance for artworks (from frame to frame – all-risk exhibition cover / all-risk art cover) 
  • – A flat-rate loan fee based on the number of works (for projects outside the region)  
  • – A lump-sum contribution towards the administrative management of the project and communications. 
  • – A flat-rate contribution towards transport, set-up and dismantling costs. 
  • – Monitoring the exhibition space and welcoming visitors 
  • – Press releases or printed materials such as: invitations, leaflets, posters, advertisements 

The proposed venue for the exhibition must enable the works to be displayed under conditions that ensure safety, proper conservation and a welcoming environment for visitors. 

SUPPORT AND MEDIATION

The mediation team is here to support you in developing your project with the Frac. 

The talk ‘What is a Frac?’ looks back at the history of the Fracs, and more specifically that of the Frac Grand Large – Hauts-de-France. 

The ‘I’m the Guide’ scheme gives pupils the chance to act as exhibition guides. A training session and a special guided tour are led by a guide before the pupils take over as guides for the day. 

These activities can be carried out on site or in the region.

RESIDENCIES IN COMPANIES 

Since 2018, the Frac has been supporting local businesses wishing to host an artist in residence. A regular presence within the company fosters the exchange of perspectives and viewpoints on work situations, objects, environments, memories and stories. This unique context for encounters encourages new ways of seeing and doing things.

The Frac supports local stakeholders by drawing on its expertise in contemporary art and cultural development. It offers bespoke support in the form of consultancy and project management, and helps to foster networking between projects within a region.
