On 10 October, the Frac Grand Large reopens with four new exhibitions: “Je rêvais d’un autre monde”, “Point de vue design #4”, “Clou à clou x Wormhout” and “Le foyer de la révolte”.

“JE RÊVAIS D’UN AUTRE MONDE“  

The Frac Grand Large’s photographic collection 

From 10 October 2026 to 3 January 2027 

Etymologically speaking, the word ‘photography’ derives from the Greek: ‘photo’ (light) and ‘graphy’ (to write). To write or describe using light – this is the ambition, indeed the revolution, that this invention has represented for almost two centuries. As part of the celebrations marking the bicentenary of photography, the Frac Grand Large is delving into its collections, in collaboration with the Hauts-de-France Institute for Photography, to showcase this vast field of photographic exploration and expression centred on light.  

From the earliest photosensitive materials right through to electronic sensors with the advent of digital technology, mastering light and lighting has been an essential aspect of photography, from the moment the shot is taken right through to post-production.  

CLOU À CLOU X WORMHOUT  

Wormhout: a place to live, a place to celebrate 

From 10 October 2026 to 4 April 2027 

The third edition of a programme of site-specific exhibitions, ‘Clou x clou’ takes its name from an insurance policy covering the transport of the works from start to finish, from nail to nail. 

As part of an exhibition entitled ‘Wormhout, a place to live, a place to celebrate’, visitors are invited to discover an enhanced version of the exhibition ‘Objectifs croisés’, presented at the Wormhout media library, which showcases the Jeanne Devos collection. 

An iconic photographer of the town and a specialist in portraiture, Jeanne Devos (1902–1989) began her career in photography in the early 1920s. Having made a name for herself professionally in wedding portraiture, her work also captures various aspects of daily life for the people of Wormhout, including work in the fields, ceremonies and local festivals.

PDV Design #4: ‘D for Diversion’ 

This fourth edition of ‘Point de vue Design’ will offer an interpretation of the Frac Grand Large’s design collection through the theme of ‘repurposing’, bringing together objects that reinvent their materials, functions or uses. 

Repurposing, which is initially expressed in a playful and parodic vein, also emerges here as a possible response to these societal, economic and environmental challenges: by transforming what already exists, designers challenge our modes of production and consumption, reveal the potential of objects, stimulate inventiveness and open up new perspectives on the concept of sustainability. Thus, repurposing is presented as a genuine tool for creation, reflection and transformation of our relationship with objects.
