With more than 1,800 works by 716 French and international artists – including matali crasset, Julien Creuzet, Luciano Fabro, Kapwani Kiwanga, Tania Mouraud, Gehrard Richter and the gift of 512 drawings by Dunkirk artist Christine Deknuydt – the Frac collections is based on remarkable works belonging to the major contemporary artistic movements (minimal art, pop art, conceptual art, Arte Povera, Fluxus, gestural painting).

It is developing along four lines, which guide new acquisitions:

  • objects
  • images
  • mobilities
  • society

The works brought together in this way question geopolitical borders as well as those between disciplines (painting, sculpture, writing, sound, etc.) and explore the circulation of forms, ideas and imagination on different continents.

Endowed with rich photographic and installation collections, the Frac is, moreover, the only one to base its acquisition policy on design. Internationally recognised, this collection of icons of European design from the 1960s to the present day reflects an acute awareness of our social, economic and ecological context.
